Happiness is like misery
It creeps into your mind
It shows up when you least expect it
In the middle of your daily grind

A smile, a grin, a sly wink from an enchanting eye
A word, a touch, a chuckle shared between you and I
Like trees, they grow large with the fulness of time
And without proper care they will wither and die

A move, a slide, a run, crawl and walk
A shrug and a sigh, a soft intimate talk
With ease, they become important and clear
Like a ship on the ocean that needs to be steered

Toward shore of joy
spied from the nest
that stands aloft mast
high above the rest
you can’t see it if above you won’t go
you can’t spy it if you spend your time below

It calls you up on the phone
It’s there when you can’t handle it
And stays when you think you’re alone
